Our final recommendations are expected to be published in March 2027.<\/p>\n<p>The new electoral arrangements will come into effect at the local elections in May 2029.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you represent a local organisation or community group in Dorset, please pass this message on to your members or anyone who you think might be interested in the review. You can share the message by email or through social media by using the buttons at the bottom right of the page.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is an electoral review?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our electoral review will recommend new electoral arrangements for Dorset Council.\u00a0We\u00a0will propose:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the total number of councillors elected to the council in the future;<\/li>\n<li>the number of wards;<\/li>\n<li>the number of councillors representing each ward;<\/li>\n<li>ward boundaries; and<\/li>\n<li>the names of wards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to get involved<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a public consultation and we welcome views from individuals and organisations across Dorset <strong>on where they think new ward boundaries should be drawn.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are minded to recommend that <strong>82\u00a0councillors <\/strong>should be elected to Dorset Council\u00a0in the future.<\/p>\n<p>This is no change from the current number of councillors.<\/p>\n<p>We are now inviting proposals to help us draw up a pattern of wards\u00a0accommodate <strong>82\u00a0councillors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In drawing up new\u00a0electoral wards, we must balance three legal criteria, namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to deliver electoral equality: where each councillor represents roughly the same number of electors as others across the county;<\/li>\n<li>that the pattern of wards\u00a0should, as far as possible, reflect the interests and identities of local communities;<\/li>\n<li>that the electoral arrangements should provide for effective and convenient local government.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will treat all submissions equally, and judge each case on its merits and against the legal criteria.<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to put forward a view, we would also urge you to ensure that evidence supports your submission.<\/p>\n<p>For example, if you wish to argue that two areas should be included in the same electoral ward, make sure you tell us <em>why<\/em> they should be together, providing evidence about community facilities, ties, organisations, and amenities, rather than simply asserting that they belong together.<\/p>\n<p>There is more advice on <a href=\"https:\/\/localgovernmentboundarycommissionforengland.cmail19.com\/t\/j-l-ydikurid-hhkkntrdr-j\/\">our website<\/a>\u00a0about how you can get involved in the consultation.<\/p>\n<p>Our\u00a0website\u00a0features\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/localgovernmentboundarycommissionforengland.cmail19.com\/t\/j-l-ydikurid-hhkkntrdr-t\/\">technical guidance<\/a> that explains the process and our policies, as well as guidance on how to take part in each part of the process.<\/p>\n<p>We have also set up a webpage dedicated to the review of Dorset,\u00a0where you can find all the relevant information,\u00a0access interactive maps of the current ward\u00a0boundaries, and give your views.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/localgovernmentboundarycommissionforengland.cmail19.com\/t\/j-l-ydikurid-hhkkntrdr-i\/\"><strong>Promote the review in your area with our promotional poster<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Get in touch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We welcome\u00a0comments on warding\u00a0arrangements\u00a0by <strong>1 June 2026<\/strong>.\u00a0Representations should be made:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Through our <a href=\"https:\/\/localgovernmentboundarycommissionforengland.cmail19.com\/t\/j-l-ydikurid-hhkkntrdr-d\/\">website<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; By email to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:reviews@lgbce.org.uk\">reviews@lgbce.org.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<table width=\"295\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>&#8211; <\/strong>Or in writing to\u00a0Review Officer (Dorset), Local Government Boundary Commission for England, 7th Floor, 3 Bunhill Row, London, EC1Y 8YZ<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Travel Plan Incident Request<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As part of the planning permission for the further expansion of the Cheese Factory at Parks Farm, Ashley Chase, a Travel Plan has been put in place.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure the Travel Plan works for all parties the Parish Council has been asked to report all traffic incidents within the parish involving vehicles travelling to and from the Cheese Factory, particularly the heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).<\/p>\n<p>Please report to the Parish Clerk:<\/p>\n<p>1. Incidents of head on meetings between two HGVs or HGVs and the school bus\/other large vehicles.<br \/>\n2. HGVs passing through the village outside the agreed hours of 7.00am \u2013 6pm on working days only. There should be no HGVs on weekends and public holidays. Milk tankers are excluded.<br \/>\n3. Damage to property however minor.<br \/>\n4. Discourteous driving.<\/p>\n<p>Please note the day, time and place and if at all possible a photograph of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The Parish Clerk will report the incidents to the Highways Department and the Cheese Factory.<\/p>\n<p>The Parish Council is aware that not all vehicles involved in incidents have to do with the Cheese Factory but these will be separated out; therefore please report all incidents even if you are unsure.
